Chamber of Engineers visits Baxter

On the 27th October 2025, the Chamber of Engineers visited Baxter as part of its outreach towards industry and employers of engineers. The Chamber’s delegation was welcomed by Inġ. Christelle D’Amato, Manufacturing Director and Inġ. Joseph Grima, Senior Director of Global R&D. The Chamber was represented by Dr Inġ. Bonnie Attard (President), Mr Jean-Marie Darmanin (Secretary General) and Inġ. Maurizio Cappello (Treasurer).

During the visit, the Baxter team provided an insightful overview of the company’s operations and its longstanding presence within Malta’s manufacturing sector. The Malta facility plays a pivotal role in Baxter’s global healthcare network, specializing in the production and export of advanced medical disposable devices. It is a key local employer of engineers and focuses primarily on manufacturing infusion therapy and blood transfusion sets, critical devices used in hospitals and clinics worldwide to support intravenous medication delivery and fluid management. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and operating under rigorous quality standards, the Malta site benefits from the island’s strategic location, skilled workforce, and supportive business environment, positioning it as a vital hub for Baxter’s European operations.

Various collaboration avenues and areas for mutual support were discussed focusing on the promotion of opportunities for engineers and engineering students and further collaboration between the Chamber and industry partners to promote the attractiveness of the engineering profession. Training initiatives were also discussed. The visit concluded with a guided tour of the local manufacturing site and the R&D facilities.
