Chamber of Engineers visits MITA

On 29th August , the active outreach of the Chamber of Engineers towards the industry continued with a visit to Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA) where Inġ. Malcolm Zammit – President, Inġ. David Scicluna Giusti – Activities Secretary and Inġ. Simon Abela – Membership Secretary met with Inġ. Emanuel Darmanin – MITA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Wayne Valentine – MITA Head of Facilities Management,  Mr Jonathan Cassar MITA Chief Technology Officer & Head of Information Security and Governance and Ms Joanne Cutajar MITA Manager – Executive Liaison. The Chamber’s visit at the MITA Data Centre was facilitated by Inġ. Saviour Baldacchino – MITA Board Member and former President of the Chamber of Engineers.

MITA explained their operations, function and executed as planned projects and delved into its vision for the digital future of the central government and its services. MITA representatives also gave an extensive tour of their premises including the Data Centre Network Operations Centre and the Security Operations Centre. The Chamber of Engineers highlighted its vision to be closer to industry players with a strong base of engineers and the importance of membership of such engineers within Chamber to ensure a stronger profession as well as widening opportunities for these members of the profession. Areas for future collaboration between the two organisations were also highlighted and discussed.
