The Chamber of Engineers is proud to announce it has been awarded funding under the Voluntary Organisations Project Scheme (VOPS) 2026, administered by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS), to undertake a landmark national research project entitled “The State of the Engineering Profession: A Comprehensive ‘State of the Profession’ Research Study about the Engineering Profession in Malta.”
The project will be implemented between March 2026 and February 2027. This initiative anticipates issuing a comprehensive, research-based study aimed at providing an evidence-based snapshot of the engineering profession and its role within Maltese society and the economy. The outcomes of this research study will be published in a publicly accessible “State of the Engineering Profession” report, a first of its kind for Malta, designed to serve as a reliable reference for policymakers, educational institutions, industry stakeholders.
Commenting on the award, President of the Chamber of Engineers, Dr Inġ. Bonnie Attard stated “This funding gives the Chamber of Engineers the opportunity to implement a long‑held vision of the Council over the years and will place solid, factual research at the heart of how we speak about our profession. Through this work, the Chamber aims to support thoughtful policymaking, strengthen the engineering community, and contribute in a meaningful way to Malta’s long‑term social and economic wellbeing, especially as we look ahead to Malta Vision 2050”.
The project directly supports national priorities related to education, employability, economic growth, and sustainable development, while also reinforcing the value of volunteering within professional organisations. Members of the engineering profession will be invited to contribute throughout various stages of the project, including consultation, peer review, participation in the survey, and dissemination of findings.
The Chamber of Engineers gratefully acknowledges the support of the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector and the Voluntary Organisations Project Scheme (VOPS) for making this important national initiative possible.
Further updates on the project’s progress and request for services will be shared through the Chamber’s official communication channels.
