Bonnie Attard is a warranted mechanical engineer. She graduated from the University of Malta in 2012 and holds a PhD from the University of Birmingham on additive manufacturing of superalloys for jet engines. She started her career as an R&D engineer within the medical product manufacturing industry. Following that she worked as a systems engineer with the Institute of Sustainable Energy. She has been working in academia since 2020, initially with the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at the University of Malta and currently with the Institute for Engineering and Transport at the Malta College of Arts, Science & Technology. Her current research interests focus on the application of additive manufacturing for the manufacturing materials in the transportation sector.

Bonnie held the role of Secretary General within the Executive Council of the Chamber of Engineers since 2021. A large part of her effort was dedicated to promoting initiatives that inspire greater student interest in the engineering profession. She has also played an active role in strengthening the bond between the Chamber of Engineers and the professional engineering community, while working to highlight the needs of the profession.

She now serves as president for the Chamber of Engineers and is committed to continue building on the Council’s work to elevate the profession to the recognition it truly deserves.
