Inġ. Meriel Ann BorgActivities Secretary

Meriel Ann Borg earned a B.Eng.(Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malta in 2006 and started her career as a Quality Engineer at STMicroelectronics. In 2008, Meriel transitioned to the aviation sector as a Quality Auditor with Lufthansa Technik. By 2016, the valuable experience in aviation took her into a management role as the Standards Management Team and Production Training Manager, leading a team responsible for final aircraft inspections and overseeing the training and development of aircraft mechanics. In 2020, she assumed the role of Tooling and Equipment Manager, currently leading a team of 20 people, and ensuring that all tools used in aircraft maintenance comply with stringent standards for testing, calibration, and preventive maintenance. Meriel is engaged in several projects related to tool procurement aimed at enhancing the company’s capabilities and managing contracts. She served as president of the Sport and Social Club for nine years, leading the committee in overseeing the company’s corporate and social responsibility initiatives, while also organizing events for employees and their families.
Throughout her aviation career, Meriel took part in various talks and public presentations, advocating for engineering careers and STEM popularisation.
