The Chamber of Engineers has reviewed the proposed ‘A Modern Building and Construction Regulation Framework for Malta’, a framework recently published by the Kamra tal-Periti.

Following endorsement of the draft framework shared last year, the Chamber endorses again the ten main principles governing the proposed comprehensive framework in this final version of the document. These proposals must also be tied to the registration of contractors including building services contractors with whom engineers have more specific professional interactions. This is of significant importance.

The current situation in the building & construction sector, and the unfortunate fatality witnessed recently, highlight even more the need that such regulations are taken on board by the authorities which should effect and ensure a complete transition process.

The Chamber of Engineers will continue to support both the KTP as well as the relevant authorities in the consultation process to bring the industry to the highest possible standard.
