Chamber of Engineers visits Trelleborg Sealing Solutions

On Wednesday 22nd November, the Chamber of Engineers continued with its active outreach towards the industry with a visit to Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Malta (TSSM) in Ħal-Far Industrial Estate. The visit was hosted by Inġ. Ivan Galea (Operations Manager), Inġ. Clarence Camilleri (Operations Manager), Inġ. Gianella Attard (Quality Manager), Inġ. Kim Attard (Continuous Improvement Manager), Inġ. Roderick Abela (Automation and Control Manager), Inġ Wayne Gregoraci (Maintenance Team Leader) and Ms Marlies Sciberras (Human Resources Manager). The Chamber was represented by Inġ. Malcolm Zammit – President, Inġ. Robert Busuttil – Vice-President and Dr. Inġ. Bonnie Attard – Secretary General.

A part of Trelleborg Group, TSSM provided the Chamber delegation with a brief look at the history of the company in Malta and the development of its operations in the broad world of engineered seals. The TSSM site in Ħal-Far is undergoing significant developments which will see the addition of two manufacturing units bringing to Malta the development and manufacture of seals for new application. A manufacturing tour was provided which covered the main Malta operations.

The Chamber of Engineers emphasized its commitment to establishing a closer relationship with industry stakeholders and to rope in more engineers working in the manufacturing sector. The meeting ultimately underscored potential are of collaboration between the two organizations especially in areas of STEM engagement.
