Inġiniera Malta participate in the ENGINEERS EUROPE Annual Business Meetings

Inġiniera Malta, the joint committee of Kamra tal-Periti (KTP) and the Chamber of Engineers (CoE), participated in the ENGINEERS EUROPE Annual Business Meetings held in Dublin, Ireland, on May 30-31, 2024, hosted by Engineers Ireland. Representing Malta were Inġ. Michelle Cortis, CoE’s International Affairs Secretary and Executive Board Member of ENGINEERS EUROPE, and Inġ. Malcolm Zammit, CoE’s President.

The National Members Forum, held on May 30, allowed members to discuss a range of topics, including recruiting engineers into organisations, financing, the societal importance of engineers, and promoting STEM subjects. The topic of artificial intelligence was also discussed within a sub-team, moderated by our own International Secretary, Inġ. Michelle Cortis.

The Annual General Meeting, held on May 31, featured a busy agenda. Discussions included financial matters of ENGINEERS EUROPE, network issues, verbal reports from the European Monitoring Committee on future changes within EUR ING 2.0, and a report from the working group Future Engineers. Most importantly, the election of Executive Board Members took place.

Congratulations to the re-elected members; Mrs. Svana Björnsdóttir (Iceland), Mr. Trond Markussen (Norway), and Mr. Ralph Appel (Germany) as President, and to the newly elected members; Mr. Enn Kerner (Estonia), Mrs. Nancy Vercammen (Belgium), and Mr. Luca Scappini (Italy). Inġiniera Malta is pleased to note that this election has maintained a balance among the Northern, Central, and Southern representatives, thanks to the varied appointments across the Regional Groups.

We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in these meetings and remains dedicated to international collaboration and engagement.
