Chamber of Engineers and Xjenza Malta Sign MOU to Foster Engineering and Scientific Innovation

On 11th November 2024, Xjenza Malta and the Chamber of Engineers have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a collaborative framework aimed at promoting engineering and scientific research, development, and innovation in Malta. The signing of the MOU was presided by the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation Keith Azzopardi Tanti.
The MOU outlines a shared commitment to enhance public awareness and understanding of the critical role that engineering and scientific research play in societal advancement. Key objectives of the agreement include:
- Raising Public Awareness: Both parties will work together to increase public awareness of engineering and scientific research through public lectures, media campaigns, and participation in various public events.
- Supporting R&D Activities: The MOU aims to encourage and support research and development initiatives in engineering and science through joint projects, workshops, and conferences.
- Enhancing Educational Opportunities: Xjenza Malta and the Chamber of Engineers will organize and support educational programs, workshops, and training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of engineers, researchers, and students across Malta.
To ensure the successful implementation of these initiatives, both parties will agree on a schedule of work and activities at the beginning of each year covered by the MOU.
Inġ. Malcolm Zammit, President of the Chamber of Engineers, stated that, “This MOU sets the ground for newer opportunities for engineering to be increasingly integrated in research & innovation. This collaboration will foster a greater awareness and practice of innovation within engineering and STEM communities and will also further consolidate the innovation ecosystem in Malta. ”
Honourable Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation Keith Azzopardi Tanti added that “This agreement is testament to the Government’s recognition of the importance of engineering to improve our research capacity and to stimulate innovation in Malta. With this collaboration, we are ensuring that our country remains at the forefront of global technology”
